Get employees engaging with the Platform

Almost half of UK organisations in a recent study have said they intend to invest more in employee benefits over the next 12 months. However, despite these investments, people are simply not engaging with their benefits platforms, according to recent research from Recruitment company, Robert Walters UK and Ireland. In fact, a whopping 80% of employees are not taking full advantage of the discounts and savings they are provided with.

It seems that one of the key issues highlighted in the research is the lack of effective communication around benefits, which can range from financial perks like pension contributions and annual bonuses to digital gym classes and wellbeing services. Here are some practical things that HR and Reward professionals can do to boost engagement with their own benefits solutions:

1. Tailored email campaigns

Simple, easy to execute and effective; regular, personalised emails highlighting available benefits and offering step-by-step guides on accessing them are a must-do. Short, engaging subject lines like โ€˜This Weekโ€™s Top Deals Just for You!โ€™ can spark curiosity and drive clicks.

 2. Employee onboarding webinars

At My Staff Shop, we offer full onboarding training for managers, as well as one-to-one consultations and face-to-face support for larger organisations, plus a monthly open webinar where employees are walked-through everything from how to log in, to navigating the platform and app, so they get the most out of their benefits. Your benefits provider should be offering something similar to help everyone understand what is on offer and how to best utilise their workplace perks.

3. Spotlight Daily Offers

Everyone loves a deal! Highlighting rotating offers, exclusives, or flash sales creates urgency. Promote these through internal communication channels like Slack or email newsletters.

4. Introduce fun incentives

Gamification works. Fact. Creating competition and a sense of fun, such as our Free Lottery, is a great way to encourage engagement and help encourage employees to check in regularly.

5. Posters, social media and other comms

At My Staff Shop, we offer a suite of posters that can be put up in communal work areas to remind people of the offers available. These are seasonal suggestions, to keep the benefits front and centre at Christmas, Easter, summer and return-to-school, for example. HR can also sign-post employees to their benefits providersโ€™ social media channels to keep them in the loop with any offers or exclusives. We have an X channel that points Members to the Platform and highlights new movie and gaming releases, top tips and reminders.

5. Keep the conversation going

Access tools that your benefits provider offers. Here at My Staff Shop, we share tips, advice and ideas for getting better engagement on our Insights Hub. Telling success stories of those savvy savers is another great way to encourage more usage, and cultivating benefits ambassadors will certainly help engagement. Celebrating wins, great savings or top tips on getting the most out of the Platform can inspire others to get involved as well.

By implementing these strategies, HR teams can turn underutilised platforms into thriving hubs of employee engagement. If you would like to find out more, get in touch using the contact form and we will be happy to provide a demo!
